Dear Fellow Equestrians,
Another year has passed and it was a very busy one for all those involved with the activities of the Horse Park. We had a successful International Three Day Event in May well known as the Jersey Fresh, along with two Dressage Shows and two Horse Trials followed by a Combined Driving Event and our now famous Hoe Down. They were a lot of work but very successful and a lot of fun especially the Hoe Down.
On the educational side we had two schooling shows for Hunters and Jumpers as last year but added Western classes and Dressage to the Fun Day at the Park. There was a Dressage Schooling Series over the winter that was only snowed out once. In August we started Centered Riding Lessons as a benefit for the Horse Park with instructor Kathy Culler donating her time for the cause. Unmounted Centered Riding is also being held twice a month at Rick’s Saddle Shop over the winter. They are held on either Thursday evenings or Sunday afternoons depending on the availability of the room. These dates are posted on the web site and Rick’s have been sending out email blasts for us. It is just one way they are giving back to the Horse Park.
New for 2012 will be Friends of HPNJ and Friends of HPNJ Youth Council. A few local people who are huge fans of the Horse Park of New Jersey got together to come up with ideas that would enable us to “give back” and find ways to help the park the we love so much to flourish. This plan was approved by the Board of Trustees and we plan on having a meet and greet meeting in January to start projects for 2012. See the Horse Park web site for more information and updates.
Membership is an essential part of the Horse Park and we appreciate your support in the past and look forward to your continued support. We also depend highly on volunteers to make the events successful. Please continue your support and come join the camaraderie with your fellow equestrians. Many hands make light work. The question is still, WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE HORSE PARK TO KEEP IT A FACILITY THAT WE CAN ALL BE PROUD OF AND SAY THAT WE ARE A PART OF THE ANSWER?
