Our efforts to improve membership to the Horse Park are coming slowly, but everything takes time. Due to the economy it has been a hard year for many people and events. Of course, everyone is full of ideas about what we should do, but when we plan something and no one comes it is discouraging. To be informed members, everyone needs to go to the Horse Park web site weekly or at least every other week to find new activities that have been added to the schedule.
Clinics over the past year include two driving clinics, a gymnastic clinic and a Rex Peterson clinic. There were two Dressage and Combined Test shows and the Horse Park Horse Trials. Bob Allen with Woodedge Shows will be having schooling clinics in January and February. Interested persons should check the web site for further information.
There have been guidelines setup for clinics and anyone interested can contact the Horse Park. Clinics will be run for the benefit of the Park and a usage fee is not required. Expenses for EMT, Insurance and Clinicians will be paid (unless they are volunteers) and the remainder of the money is to benefit the Horse Park. So get a group of people to form a committee and make something happen.
There will be reduced haul in fees for members at Horse Park run activities and possibly reduced entry fees for some schooling shows. We need your help to make more things happen and since no one is getting paid for our volunteer time please lend a hand. Many hands make light work.
As always volunteers are an essential part of successful events. Look in the future for list of jobs that are needed and if you have a special talent or vocation that you can donate please help us. You never know who you will be working with and it may be someone who will make a change in your life. Have you worked with Olympic riders or officials? You can learn a lot just by being one of the volunteers that make a difference.
Hope to see more active members that want to make a difference and make the Horse Park a better place that we can all be proud of. And if you are a member you just may be getting a quarterly newsletter, it is in the plans.
